Somatic Bodywork in Costa Rica: Healing from the inside out

In western medicine, we are taught to focus on and manage the symptoms, though the symptoms are hardly ever the root cause. So when these symptoms and discomforts arise...
Most of us are taught to push through. To numb out. To ignore the body’s signals until they get loud enough that we just can’t not listen any longer... That’s when symptoms start showing up:
Tight shoulders that never relax.
Headaches or jaw tension (TMJ).
Digestive issues that flare under stress.
Anxiety that doesn’t turn off, even at night.
Feeling disconnected, like you’re living in your head and not fully in your body.
These aren’t random. They’re the body’s way of trying to get our attention. Somatic theory teaches us that stress, trauma, and unprocessed emotions don’t just “go away.”
When we experience a traumatic event, no matter how big or how small, that we are not able to safely process them in the moment (which most of us never learned, because they certainly didn't teach that in school), the nervous system tucks them tightly away to be processed at a later time, when it is safe enough to be felt. These physiological responses — that potentially happened years ago — live in our tissues, in our breath, in the way we move through the world.
What is Somatic Bodywork?
Somatic bodywork is a way of helping the body complete what it couldn’t finish on its own. It’s not just massage, and it’s not talk therapy — it’s a bridge between the two.. And yet, it goes so much deeper than either of those things alone.
Through a blend of Thai massage, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Shiatsu, Reiki, and Somatic Emotional Release, we give the body a safe space to:
Slow down, and breathe deeply.
Listen to the stories that your body has been holding onto for so long.
Release what’s been weighing you down.
Repattern the nervous system to remember what safety FEELS like.
Reconnect with a sense of connection to Self, with ease and grace.
We are not here to "fix" or "treat" the symptoms (OR YOU!), we work with the root of whats present, and usually that points us back to the nervous system’s survival patterns.
Why This Matters
When your body feels safe, your life changes. Creating safety in the body is the key to moving forward in life. You have more capacity to handle the hard moments.. More focus, more freedom to create the life you actually want.
Somatic bodywork can support:
Chronic tension and pain that don’t respond to other therapies
Anxiety, overwhelm, or burnout.
Emotional healing (grief, past trauma, or unprocessed stress).
Feeling stuck or disconnected from yourself.
Getting out of that "stuck place" where you've been looping in the same pattern of years.
A few more specific areas of chronic symptoms that are common in the clients I see are, insomnia, migraines, back pain, TMJ, fibromyalgia, endometriosis and so much more.
What you need to know is:
This isn’t a quick fix, and certainly not about pushing the pain down just for it to come back a month later. It’s about rewiring your relationship with your body — so that “relaxation” becomes accessible to you in generous amounts, not just something you feel for 90mins out of the month.
A Different Kind of Healing Space in Ciudad Colón
At Honey Sol Somatics, every session is an invitation to rest, release, receive, and repattern the feeling of safety in the body. My work isn’t one-size-fits-all. No deep tissue, or gimme gimme "more pressure" in my sessions.
The language of the nervous system is simple, and it responds extremely well to spaces of slowness, stillness and softness. Truly, our core need as humans is to be seen, heard and held. That's exactly what we do in each and every session. The somatic journey waiting for you is deeply personal, rooted in neuroscience and theory, but heavy on intuition and deep listening as to tailor to what your body is asking for that day.
Because when you learn to truly listen to your body — healing doesn’t just happen on the table. It ripples into every area of your life.
